GOT A PLAN

  1. I am a lover of floor plans and have the have had the very good fortune of visiting Villa Gamberaia. The design is equally important to the plants in successful gardens. I understand all the parts (rooms) of your garden much better and I like what you have done very much. Now, I am going to work backwards from older posts and take a walk through your garden. Thanks for doing this! You have created something very special. I like seeing it next to the Villa Gamberaia plans. Did you know Villa Gamberaia before you designed your garden?

    1. I knew the Garden at Villa Gamberaia via G.N. Brandt´ garden at Gentofte, but was not aware of it when I designed my garden. The small passage between the ywo Buildings forced us to continue this walk to the end of the garden. It was obvious to make this walk, and hereafter we had two different sized gardenplots; one in relation to the house and one in relation to it self and related to the surounding farmland. At that time I was doing the ceramic on the wheel and was very fascinated by the ellipse-form. So why not do the ellipse in different ways in my garden?
Thanks again Michael.. asking for a plan.

  2. Great minds think alike, Kjeld. The similarities are amazing! I got interested in Italian gardens because Charles Platt, an architect from New Hampshire, studied them in Italy and returned here and created terraced italianate homes and gardens. That history here prompted the structure and terracing I did in my garden. The intimate size of Gamberaia made me feel that I could do a lot in my very, very small garden. I think a post with the numbers would be a great idea!
    Thanks for the plan.
